Joel, an Elkin native, continues to reside in Elkin with his wife Leslie. His radio career began in 1993 as a "stats man," thanks to Leon Reece. In 1995 he worked at WAAV in Wilmington, NC and at WWWC in Wilkesboro, NC . He later planted his feet at WIFM and has broadcast everything from football to swimming, covering numerous Conference Championship games, Regional Championship games and, to date, thirteen State Championship games. Joel has covered sports from every corner of the state with the precision and passion for radio and broadcasting.
